If you have a business that wants to attract touring motorcyclists from all over the world - then we believe that our sites represent a sound investment. At the end of the table there is some of the why's and wherefores about link exchanges.

I have often been asked a few questions about how the link exchange works and what we are trying to achieve as an organisation by offering free link exchanges.  

The first thing to talk about is what we do – 

We rent motorcycles and we sell motorcycle accessories. That’s our core businesses. We also run a few tours – but not as a core business. We do a lot of route planning as part of the rental business. I personally have also worked in IT for 25 years and in the internet since its initial rise since the early ‘90’s. So I have tried to pack in some advice as well….

 Do you have a Gite, Chambre D;Hote Bed and Breakfast or Hotel?

Many of our customers who come for rental ask us for cheaper accommodation en-route – see this thread from a customer who is coming in April and wants to find accommodation on a tour of France http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?p=6511298#post6511298– we have many more of these but this is the first one I have seen on a public bulletin board (mentioning us and asking for accommodation) – normally we get e-mails. But his requirement to see France and stay in cheaper accommodation for a night or two per stop is very clear. 

Now we know you probably have your property on several general listings – some of which you pay for and some of which are free. What we are suggesting is that for those of you who are active motorcyclists or who recognise that motorcyclists are not bad people but are typically better off with a lot of disposable income and who want them to come and stay – we can help. We can help you and our customers. Because this is the reason we started the site – and that is to provide a resource for our customers primarily and touring riders generally. 

It’s not only the referrals and accommodation listing that we offer – we are in the process of cross linking all of our sites with the accommodation site.

The single thing that ties these sites together is that they are about motorcycling – so for example – type ‘Motorcycle Hire Dordogne’ in Google and www.missionmotos.biz is the first motorcycle related site to appear in the non paying section of the search results, even though we are nowhere near Dordogne. Currently you are two clicks away from the accommodation pages – over the next few weeks we will be changing that to every page you land on will have a link to the biker friendly accommodation pages. The site www.motorcycle-rental-france.com site already has this, and we are collecting a list of French rental partners to populate this site – as we are often asked for rentals throughout France. 

We are also cleaning up the accommodation pages over a similar period – which was another reason why I wanted to write to you. We would like to get the following details – Your: region; department; nearest big town, commune name and the name of your property. This will help us get rid of the question marks on the site where we don’t have data.

 Now I’ll cover what it is we offer…..

Obviously we have a free listing – it isn’t very pretty and the links don’t work – people really can’t be bothered to do much when they land on it. We will only list this way for this season. 

Second we have link exchanges – it looks a little better – people click can the link for email and web site  – all the nasty question marks disappear and so on. More importantly – link exchanges benefit all concerned  This benefit involves the placement for search engines – the more links you have the higher up the search engines you come. That’s how most of the listings you are already on come so high – or they pay to appear on the right – and pass that charge onto you. The more relevant your linking the higher you come – so if the link is to motorcycle related things our sites are good ones to link to. The great thing is – it is effective and free. You benefit by having a high relevance for linking to our accommodation and rental sites – we benefit by having a rental link on every accommodation page – that’s a fair swap. In fact – the more links we get the more free publicity everyone gets – it’s that simple – no catches, no obligations (other than exchanging links), no money ever changes hands. If a Rider wants to plan a tour he will find our pages and start from there. To get a link exchange all you need to do is put a link to one of our sites with the relevant text: or HTML .

Next we start on ads we charge for – These start at the £14.50. This pays for the work of adding your picture text and all the other information, and the price of the storage fees for the web. The ad then runs for a year. We can explain the best options for you. 

The rest of the ads are increasing amounts of exposure –and consequently expense – and that includes the slots on the other motorcycling sites we run. 

Our aim is not to sell advertising space or give you anything you think you don’t need - so that’s why we give you a completely free link exchange option and the Google reports so you can prove to yourself it is a good idea. The idea is that you first link exchange with us – then if you see the traffic to your region rising you may want to up your profile. If you don’t then keep the link exchange going and benefit from the free publicity. If you have a bigger place or want to attract more bikers then up your profile….. in other words – if you don’t see any value – then don’t pay any money!!! But do take advantage a free ad!

 This link will point to the web site – but the explanatory text in the web site is not put in the link – not the best way of linking fr search engines.

 This link tells the search engine something about the site itself – everything from the '<a' to the '</a>' is taken into account by the search engine - this improves the relevance of the link and the quality. As far as the search engine is concerned. So MotoPyrenees is all about motorcycle touring rentals and holidays – your site has a link there and some mention of motorcycles on the link and elsewhere on the site – Motopyrenees is then considered to be an ‘authority’ as far as the search engine is concerned.

 This works for you in two ways – if you google ‘motorcycle hire Dordogne’ you will see a choice of two pages come up – that is because google considers Mission Motos highly relevant to the search term – and there are multiple occurrences of it. It means in the future –as links are added and indexed by the engines – your site will independently be given more authority because it has link exchanged with motopyrenees – and because of the link text and any other mentions you have about motorcycling.

 So the link exchange is probably the most effective form of free advertising you have. By the way – if you still don’t understand why it is a good idea – just trust me – it is – or I wouldn’t put so much effort in it for my own business.

 Pay Per click advertising

If you are doing this – my best recommendation is don’t – it is not going to pay back as well as link exchanging and other free forms of advertising.

Get your site submitted to google here’s the link http://www.google.com/addurl/?continue=/addurl

Then visit MSN and Yahoo and submit your site to all of them!
